    Wonderful shot! I gotta go there... Faved it... The image's exif info says that the image was taken around noon sometime in July. It's hard to believe you could get shadows like that at noon. Is the exif info correct?

    Wow! The only place I'v seen sand this white is on the gulf coast of Fla.
    And it's pretty much flat, since it's on the beach. This is just outstanding!
    I hope your parents look at your site; they'd be really impressed!

    @ jimf : you're right, my camera was still set to local EST time... so it was only 9:55am. It was about the tail end of light, and it was getting harder to find interesting shots. But on some of the big hills, you could still see things like this.

    The evening is a little bit easier, only because the dunes don't open until 7am, and when we were there the sun rose at 6. I had to sit in the driveway for an hour before they let me in!

    @Longears: I don't think they know this exists, however... I plan on printing and framing some of these, so they'll see 'em.

    Thanks for the clarification, Ian. Again -- a great shot! My brother, who lives in Albuquerque, wants me to come back out there in December or January so we can take a trip down to White Sands. The low angle of the sun ought to give us more time with the shadows during the winter. In addition, it will be much cooler during the day. I may just take him up on that...
