Vietnam: Halong Morning![]() ![]() Dawn light reaches out over the three thousand islands of Halong bay in Vietnam. This image was composed to allow space for (magazine) text to be placed in the top half of the picture, but I still kinda like the large blue sky without the text... it conveys a little of the sense of vast emptiness one feels alone on a boat in Halong bay.

I do like the framing with the exaggeratedly large sky. It conveys the emptiness you mention but it also makes the small areas of sunlit vegetation and buildings on the distant shores all the more delightful and tantalizing.
