Here comes the sun...

Here comes the sun...

A couple weeks ago, a few of my friends and I set on a road trip to Palouse prairies in far Eastern part of Washington state in the US. This place is known for their 3000 mile agricultural rolling hills growing wheat and rapeseed (canola). Its harvest season at this time of the year and the rich golden colors against clear skies made for wonderful light.

This picture was shot a few minutes before sunrise - I love the morning light! Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I do!

Here is some information about the place for those who are interested

1. Palouse is a 3000 square mile prairie area bordering the states of Washington and Idaho. The entire place is filled with rolling hills of fertile land predominantly growing Wheat and Rapeseed (Canola). For more information, WIKI is your best friend - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palouse
2. Steptoe Butte (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steptoe_Butte) is one of the bigger hills which serves as a viewpoint to capture the awesome landscape :)
3. Palouse Falls state park (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palouse_falls) is a huge waterfall amidst tall and dry canyons of south eastern Washington. The views are breathtaking and makes for great pictures in good light!

The Art of Pot Making

The Art of Pot Making

Chennai Sangamam is a Tamil Nadu (India) state government organized cultural gathering that celebrates various art forms of Tamil People. This event happens during the harvest festival Pongal.

This shot is captured during a roadside demo where an artist made pots. Pot making is such a rich portion of the tamil culture that it is considered as an art form.

This picture is shot with a Nikon D90 and a 50mm f/1.4G lens at ISO 1250. Pardon the noise level.

Crayon Art in the Sky!

Crayon Art in the Sky!

Having travelled back from half way round the world just hours ago, I wasn't sure if I should go see this year's July 4th fireworks. Guess I made the right decision. Even though I rate 2010 fireworks ahead of this, yesterday was nothing less than spectacular.

Still have a few more to share!
