just a moment
I thought I would be the only person insane enough to hike Watkins Glen in a total downpour. But there she was, standing on the bridge checking out Rainbow Falls. Funny how I braved the rain only so I could shoot the falls without people walking in my shot - and my favorite image is one with someone in it.
Have a great week everyone.
1st Place in Karma's 10/3/09 "Nominated Photo Contest"! Thanks so much!

Oh this is gorgeous Adam, and she fits right in with that blue umbrella. One wonders what she's contemplating. Nice work. P.S., I love the straight down waterfall on the left. Ah, I just went back for a second look and saw your note. Perfect composition.

Hard to decide.
However, these images are so complex and so strong that I can only say:wow.
Perhaps I like the second one better for the lack of colour and for the mistery.

Wow, I was sure this was a shot from last year! There's that much color at Watkins right now? We'd better get out there quickly!
I like the bursts of light playing on the wet rocks and lighting up the moisture in the air. If waterfall photography is all about timing, yours was perfect.
We like your waterfall image and we'd love to talk about it.

Please post it to the Waterfall Critique group.

Wow. So wonderful, the light, the focus, the colors - amazing & breathtaking! ♥

Love the light hitting the cascading water, as well as the shiny rock surfaces and crisp detailed leaves, the umbrella definitely makes the shot for me- as something subtle, yet out of place in the tranquil nature scene.

It reminds me of an old japanese watercolor. Beautiful.
I love how the long exposure creates a delicate veil of thin lines. Great job!

this is a nice keepsake for us if you insist on disappearing for the week! As to the walker on the bridge--I think the photo is so much stronger for her being in it! Her presence adds scale and how fortunate she happened to be carrying such a perfectly colored umbrella (not red! not black!)
Have a great week!

Good gawd this is gorgeous, Adam! (You were probably the only person who hiked up there with a huge DSLR. At least you can say that much)
I'll miss seeing your photos for a week. But, I understand the burnout factor. You have a great week, too!
psycho_pixie (44 months ago | reply)
Superb! Those autumn colors with all of that rock and rain...really wonderful. I normally wouldn't like people in the shot but the lady with the umbrella is perfect!
Enjoy your week away, we will see you when you return!

Oh wow, indeed. Beautifully composed and wonderfully exposed, more than that time and this lovely view might have smeared a lot as you know, more than one second in daytime is a lot of mousse-like water. (I like the colour one better.) Hazy light on top is very beautiful.
