Cyclone Nargis - delta region (Myanmar)![]() ![]() First aid: medical supplies are urgently needed as local stocks have been destroyed or depleted.
Bridget Gardener from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies explains: "During the Cyclone, many people held onto trees to avoid being blown away. At the same time they were almost 'sand blasted' by dirt and saltwater. These people lost the top layer of their skin and it is important that these injuries are treated before infections can set in. This will takes a huge burden off the hospitals." Photo: International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (p17601). To find out more, go to www.ifrc.org/myanmar. CommentsProudAmerican1 says:I just can't believe this government is
killing their own people. What are they
hiding over there? There is no way they can
handle this alone. I feel so sorry for the
people who have nothing and think no one is
trying to help. I'm sure most have no
outside communication and are just sitting
there dying, and wondering why no one is
there to save them. I thank God I live in a
country that would not let me die that way.
So sad, such a waste of life.
