Sleeping beauty

He fell asleep after having something to eat. Not to much.
The people around kept on walking as if he was not ther, thin air.
There was something about him, that said "I gave up...."
....and he was so alone in all the crowd.

    Terrific photo.
You have a lot of super photographs here.
I was going to complain about lack of Israeli pics, but I strayed into your website - wow - fantastic.

I'm weeping for Israel/Palestine. I pray there can be a good resolution, even with that many problems.

TNX Algo. I am happy you liked my website as well.
For thepolitical part - I think its a classic case of mistrusting from both side.

Ido, I like this photo very much. it doesn't try to be clever or pretty, it presents a social aspect of city life. b&w is a good choice and I like the crop.

however, I would very much like to form my own thoughts about it and not read someone else's, even if they are the photographer's.
the text just describes what is visible anyway, and it has spelling mistakes in it. why is it called 'sleeping beauty'? is that sarcasm?

this picture invites compassion and it would work even better without the prose.

Barbfi, the spelling os beacause English is not natural for me. No spellchecking here.
My comments that go with the pic are my reasons and my thaughts around taking it. It is not instead of others thinking.
The title might look sarcastic, and I guess there is some of that there, even that I didnt intend to be so.
It is more of saying "even that has its beauty, but its asleep and you hardly see it". Yes, it went very good with the sleeping man.

Can you add a bigger size, crop out the plastic bag and post again?

Can I? yes I can. Will I? no I wont. I dont like bigger sizes - heavy on my internet connection. For the plastic bag - its a part of the frame. If I will cut it, I believe I will break some sort of equilibrium that now exist on the frame.

Its OK if you dont like it. You realy dont have to.

The composition doesn't work for me. Perhaps if the frame was moved upward to include the faces of the people passing by it might help. I also don't think that the whole body of the sleeping man is needed.

The walking stick draws my eyes out of the composition.

this shot captures the isolation of a homeless man in the middle of a crowded scene.

i would not crop out the plastic bag. it adds to the visual interest like the pidgeon and the cane.

the longer i looked at this the more i realised that i was looking at everything except the sleeping man. he's motionless, everyone else is active and in sufficient focus to distract from the subject. most of the contrast and dynamic range in the picture is in the passers-by, not the sleeper. and there are too many objects that draw the eye away from the person. a much tighter crop might work but i think there was a picture waiting here that you missed.

    I agree, it lacks focus.

Kalense Kid - I agree with you. The only byhing that realy buthered mr was that I did not let a longer shuter speed to make the figures behind look more "unfocused".

I read the text first, then started crying so hard I wasn't able to look at the picture anymore. Did I miss something?

I think the black and white was a good choice, but this photo isn't up to snuff for the safe.

Too busy of a photo. What distracts me the most is the cane...I don't think you needed to keep it all in the picture. Good choice doing it in B/W, though.

Love the B&W in this one, but just as others already told you, I would have cropped it...

People in Prague don't make the impression that they're all that happy... Communism has made them a bit indifferent i'm afraid.
On the upside: you can photograph them easily, because they don't seem to care much about their privacy either.

He looks very alone as you said. Those untied shoelaces on his right foot add to the feeling.
