THANKS

I've had fun with flickr, over the past few years. Sadly, with it's increasing popularity, it's also become a place for people to source free stock photos. You might not mind, but it does affect professional photographers, and their rates. Which means they have to work even harder, to protect their images, and to make a living. Which isn't very fair. It's not like someone goes to your workplace, does a bit of your job for free, and your boss decides not to bother with your services. As someone who's planning on becoming a pro photographer, then that does play on my mind.

That aside, I've noticed people taking my images from Flickr. I have three options:

1. Sting them with the £125 a month bill, for doing so.
2. put copyright watermarks all over my work.
3. Make my work private - viewable for friends only.

I decided to go with option 3. I can't be bothered with 1, even if permissions are changed on my work to say that all rights are reserved. If they've hotlinked, they'll soon find a big ol' empty space in their site. As for 2, I don't really want to do that either. I like my work as it is, without borders, or things on it. I don't gain anything by having my photos public. I do however, lose control over who is stealing them. I've noticed some anomalies in the stats for the photos, so I think someone isn't playing fair. All they had to do was ask, and I'd have given them an answer.

Anyway. I'll be going through my contacts to change them to friends, and they'll be the only ones who'll see my work.

Anyone can see this photo All rights reserved
