Whimsical Whimsies

Whimsical Whimsies

I was at Sketchfest SF last night where the comedians are given a set list on the spot. Almost like improv. They are given topics like Mime Kampf or Willful Amnesia and required to think of a funny bit on the spot. We had luminaries like Greg Proops (Whose line is it anyway?), Steve Agee (Sarah Silverman Show) and a big surprise guest by Robin Williams! As an added bonus, for the last topic of every sketch, they had to pull a slip from the audience box. These slips contained 'two-word band names'. I wrote down 'Nonsensical Nonsense.' it was the last slip pulled by Robin Williams and he made fun of it by callin it a 'whimsical whimsy'. So that's my Friday night brush with fame that the this cliche Saturday post of a blue sky and touristy locale.

Morning Light at Yosemite Falls

Morning Light at Yosemite Falls

This is the Merced River. You can see the morning light hitting Yosemite Falls. The falls look so different in October when you compare to April. It's almost a trickle. The leaves have mostly fallen and the trees so bare. What a stark contrast.

Lonesome Fall

Lonesome Fall

The days finally start to feel a little longer. It's nice as there's more light. I am definitely feeling tired. Lack of sleep and traveling probably contributes to that. I cannot wait for the weekend.

Penn's Landing

Penn's Landing

Google's pretty on. If you searched "Bongo Room & Deck", it was the first item. Kudos to everyone who guessed the City of Brotherly Love! I was in Philadelphia last week, staying along Penn's Landing.

The thing about flying in for a meeting is you never get time to go exploring. Luckily, the weather was fairly warm. It was actually warmer in Philly than in SF when I left last Tuesday morning. There was frost on the cars at the airport... and when I landed at PHL, it was a balmy 50 degrees! That first night, we went out to dinner at Morimoto's. If you haven't visited the Iron Chef's restaurant, I'd highly recommend it. Alas, I did not take any pictures there (I should have), but opted to enjoy a delicious dinner.

About: Penn's Landing is the waterfront area of the Center City along the Delaware River section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It get's its name from the founder of Pennsylvania, William Penn, who docked near here in 1682, along the now paved over Dock Creek.
