Off the Wall by Ian Lucero

Off the Wall

New kicks. Yeeah. I haven't bought new shoes in a loooooooong time AND skate shoes at that.

Ridiculously comfy.

And sort of a tribute to Michael Jackson.

Mind Boggling by Ian Lucero

Mind Boggling

How they are able to fit that much on such a tiny drive.

Scary by Ian Lucero

Scary

That this is the largest capacity (at 7200rpm) a single hard drive can hold.

1.5TB = 1,500GB

Panasonic P2 E-Series by Ian Lucero

Panasonic P2 E-Series

Just picked up my 32GB P2 E-Series card from Professional Video and Tape over in Tigard, Oregon. I'm pretty excited about having more memory to play with but there are some things you have to do to make it work correctly. There is nothing wrong with the card and you can record to your hearts content right out of the box but in order to record onto multiple cards (span), do loop, interval, or one-shot recording in 480/60i mode, or do 12p and 15p variable frame rates in 720pN YOU MUST UPDATE the 170's FIRMWARE.

Here's how you do it:

(Note: If you are using Mac OS 10.5 or greater the firmware downloaded from the Panasonic site (https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/desk/e/update.htm) will not, I repeat "WILL NOT" unzip correctly, if you let the system decompress it. You will need to use Stuffit Expander instead.)

1) Skip going to the Panasonic site and download the 1.10 firmware zip file here: drop.io/p2_eseries_update BUT if you do not trust me you can always go here: eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/ep... I won't be offended.

2) If you don't already have Stuffit Expander, get the free version from that same drop.io link above.

3) If after you've downloaded the firmware your Mac unzips it, ignore the file that it made. The OS probably threw away the unzipped version so go into the trash to retrieve it and open it with Stuffit.

4) Ok now that all that craziness is out of the way get your HPX-170's SD card ready. Reformat it to clear it of any unnecessary files.

5) Bring the SD card over to the MAC and open up the recently unzipped file. It should be called "vsi4843g" and in that folder there is another folder called "PRIVATE" You will drag/copy THAT onto the SD Card.

6) Put the SD card back into the HPX170 and then power up the camera.

7) Switch it to MCR mode and when the thumbnail screen comes on open up the menu, click one down to "Operation" open that then click down to "UPDATE"

8) Select that and of course it will ask if you are sure, click Yes. It will then tell you it is preparing for the update. A screen that says, "SOFTWARE VERSION UPDATE (Do not touch!)" will come up. Read that and wait.

9) When the update is done it will say so.

10) If you need to look at more legit instructions, go here: eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/ep...
