May 11 was billed as "redemption day," and coming off a successful (except actually seeing) tornado chase in South Dakota on the evening of the 9th, we were feeling like it was Christmas Eve before bed on May 10. The Storm Prediction Center outlooked the region in a moderate risk and called for tornadoes likely, some strong.
End result? Morning convection moving largely south of the area killed moisture inflow for the rest of the day. A few storms popped, but the day ended up being a dud compared to original billing.
This is a dying supercell that was severe thunderstorm warned near Dodge City Kansas. We were to the north of it as it fell apart.
