A Natural Rock Bridge known as Um Fruth located in Jordan's Wadi Rum.
With our guide we were exploring the Wadi Rum Desert by Bedouin Four Wheel Drive Vehicles (an adventure in itself! ). Arriving at this 50 ft natural foot bridge I wasn't expecting to climb it next.
Now I am not good with heights at all but I thought if I can go the very top of New York's Empire State Building then surely I can cope with this.
Advised by our Guide to stay on the ground if scared of heights I thought I know best and joined the climbers. I can honestly say it's one of the most terrifying things i have experienced. From the ground it just didn't look that high but Boy I was wrong. Getting half way up the rock I could see just how high we already were. My hands were extremely clammy and gripping onto the smooth rocks was not an easy task. Before you get to the Bridge section you have to stand against the rocks on a extremely narrow edge and it's this point I froze and could not move forward holding up other group members.
Luckily my Guide was at hand to help me reach the top with the aid of the other group members too. Reaching the top of the boulder was hard work but for someone who is afraid of heights I was an idoit to do so. Unable to get anywhere near the actual bridge I just watched my fellow group members pose for the camera's way down below. All I could think was how on earth am I going to get down from here. The Rock was so smooth and I could feel my feet slipping from underneath me. My Guide held my hand all the way down helping me to reach the desert sand. Feeling so relieved upon reaching the ground I now feel like an idiot when thinking back!!
