hey Blake, i set the camera (canon g9) to
take in very little light (iso 80, nd filter
on, f4.5) then set the shutter speed to half
a second. i hold an old minolta 20 flash in
my left hand and manually pop it after
opening the shutter on the camera in my right
hand (takes practice!). works best with a
semi-lit background. basically anything
outside of the direct flash gets blurred with
the long exposure.
i've taking photos like this for a coupleyears but now the images are raw and i can play
with the settings after.
