It's a longer story that that but the short form is what I put on Twitter...
"Quit my library job today [the 4 hr/wk automation project now entering its second year] I'm okay with it. I now have no regular library job."
I'm still very employed. I work for MetaFilter where this year I'm getting a raise and medical/dental/vision plans. I also work at the local high school doing some IT work and my adored drop-in time [Tues and Weds 3-5:30, come on by!]. I write semi-regularly for Computers and Libraries and I go talk to people around the world about library topics.
I have very mixed feelings about not wanting to continue with this job, but on balance it was the right thing.
