My first attempt at the whole "faked model photography" kind of thing. Thought I'd try an indoor shot, as none of my outdoor stuff seemed suitable.
I'm actually quite pleased with it, although the in/out of focus transition may be a little savage. I guess the main thing that lets it down is the motion blur (real, not faked, lol) on the cyclists - even the "in focus" one suffers from that - bit of a giveaway!
Definitely looks better viewed at "original size".
See www.flickr.com/groups/tilt-shift-fakes/ for other, better, examples - and an explanation of the technique. (It works best on cityscapes, with strong side lighting and good contrast, imho - something like this is brilliant).
EDIT Just joined the "Utata" group - after about a year of hesitation, lol! Pretty much all the photos I'm proud of, and would consider worth sharing, are on 35mm slides, and I'm currently without a scanner (but saving up for one). Anyway, I'm missing the community aspect of Flickr and thought I'd waited long enough, so here's my first submission to the group :-)
