Thanks New Balance and Road Runner Sports for the new free pair of shoes! I have loved my Minimus MT20s and now I'm going all out with the zero heel drop with MT00s.

I heard about Little Bangladesh being in K-Town thanks to Anthony Bourdain so I wanted to check it out. I wasn't aware of any other Desi communities in Greater LA outside of Artesia so it was a pleasant surprise. DTLA is a much closer drive for me than Artesia. I didn't have a placed picked out ahead of time and spontaneously chose Swadesh off of Yelp.

Coincidentally, this was the same grocery store that was featured in the K-Town episode. I actually had a conversation with the guy working the counter afterwards who confirmed that it was on Bourdain's show. Despite the recent television coverage, this place was not swamped with foodies and only had the usuals.

The food was great. I had lamb biryani with some type of fish curry, a green bean / string bean type of vegetable and also bitter melon. The fish was excellent and the bitter melon was a unique experience. The guy working the counter asked me twice if I was sure I wanted to eat it, so I knew I was in for an experience. Bitter is an understatement; that stuff is POWERFUL!

Each individual piece of chopped bitter melon had an such an intensity of bitterness that it made me feel like it was cleansing my palate. I need to go do some research as I am VERY curious to know what types of food are paired with bitter melon, in general and also in Bangladeshi cuisine. I'm glad I tried it and I would definitely eat bitter melon again.

I finished my meal with a mango yogurtish pudding type of desert and a small cup of chai. I think in total, I spent about $15 including the big bottle of water.

I highly suggest Swadesh. Their plastic picnic wear lives up to my personal observation that any Desi establishment that will serve you on picnic ware will have good food. =D
