I had thought of a lot of captivating titles, but decided to settle for this one :-)
National Park the Biesbosch is one of the few habitats left for the Beaver in Holland and still, even there they are quite hard to find. And then, finding them is one thing, but being able to capture them - with enough light - is yet another thing. Besides that, 'shooting' them in a somewhat appealing pose is a challenge in itself, because they are not the cutest of animals in their normal behaviour. So here I was on a mission to capture Beavers 'cute' :-)
I was in the little rubber boat when I spotted a beautiful Beaver lady (I think). Totally relaxed, happily swimming around. Minutes later, her spouse joined the party and, on top of that, brought her a gift. She accepted the branch - no doubt to build a cozy little nest somewhere - gracefully and they both took off together. It was heartwarming to witness. And.... cute! :-)
I've set myself a new goal for the coming winter; photographing foxes in Holland (in their natural habitat, that is). As I don't have a clue on how to start off with this, it will probably involve a lot of blisters and cold feet, but I'll keep you updated upon my progress :-). I’ve lived in the country side all of my life, but only saw a few foxes up close and none of them very photogenic. So if there's anyone in Holland who reads this and knows where to find this very shy and clever animal, I’d appreciate your tips!
