Woodland Kingfisher
Hope you don't mind that I still post shots from the South Africa holiday. It's just that I've enjoyed that trip so much and I still have so many pictures to choose from that it's hard to stop! :-)
Mala Mala is not only thé place to be for the Big Five, and particularly Leopards, but is also home to an abundance of birds. This beautiful Woodland Kingfisher was, once again, shot on the very first day of our holiday, as quite a few of the shots I've posted so far were. Hans says that in future we'll only go on holiday for one day at a time, because after the first day I'm done with photography anyway :-)

Oh we sure don't mind please post all those wonderful shots :) from SA I love how sharp the eyes are of this bird and beautiful dof its amazing how many different shades of color birds have and still they are never a fashion disaster :P any color they come up in they end up looking spectacular isnt :)

500mm. A dream. What a magnificent creamy bokeh it gives. It’s a perfect piece of equipment for someone who knows its capabilities. You see…you knew framing the bird this way would not only get you the bokeh…but also the depth. There is a huge difference between the two…and it takes one heluva lot of skill to achieve the latter. The thick branch takes us into the image….the one behind and to the left gives us that sense of three dimensions. Viewed large you really get the sensation of actually being there.
Its funny how “holidays” become shooting expeditions. I cant think of doing anything else with my vacations. I'm glad at least part of yours are the same. :-)
