Actually, Bill Bourke (then-CEO of Ford Australia) built the first one in '68 - imported a two-door shell, put a 428 in it, added a shaker, and the Super Roo stripes which were later used on the XW GT.
Looked shit-hot - there's a photo of it in the Norm Darwin book...
