Comparing the Samsung EX1 to the Fuji Finpix S100FS (iso-ladder). With appropriate settings (sharpness, saturation and contrast: default; metering: central area; the Fuji with EV -0.33) the two cameras give very similar results. Maybe at lower iso-values (80-400) the Samsung is a little bit better (smoothness and detail), whereas the Fuji maintains better detail at higher iso-values (above 400), but we have to take into account the excellent lens of the Samsung which in low light situations gives (shooting wide open) at least one and a half stops of advantage.

Comparing Samsung EX1 and Fuji Finepix S100SF. This picture is straight out of the S100FS (crop in 100% view): the S100FS is known for its high level of resolution and detail, but it loses clearly to the EX1. To my eyes the Fuji colours are more pleasant (especially greens). It has better controll over highlights (dynamic range).

Comparing Samsung EX1 and Fuji Finepix S100FS. This picture is straight out of the EX1 (crop in 100% view): excellent detail (though sharpness is set to -2, thus allowing more sharpening in postprocessing), good rendering of colours, but some highlights almost blown out (here mostly in the red channel; this with spot metering and EV set to -0.3).
