On Nov. 28, 2009, the demonstration against the Interministerial Conference of the WTO in Geneva quickly turned into chaos after a couple of hundred black blocks started smashing windows of banks and luxury stores, and burning cars.

Here, "black block" members behind a banner at the very beginning of the demonstration. A few minutes later, some of them started smashing banks and luxury stores windows, plunging the whole event into chaos.

MANIFESTATION CONTRE L'OMC A GENEVE

On Nov. 28, 2009, the demonstration against the Interministerial Conference of the WTO in Geneva quickly turned into chaos after a couple of hundred black blocks started smashing windows of banks and luxury stores, and burning cars.

Here, firefighters arrive at the scene of 3 burning cars while the police cordonned the area off. In the back, remaining demonstrators watch in a mixture of amazement and disgust.

Here, riot police is charging next to the Parc des Cropettes after firing a few rounds of tear gas.

OMC: Où le Monde est Cuit...

On Nov. 28, 2009, the demonstration against the Interministerial Conference of the WTO in Geneva quickly turned into chaos after a couple of hundred black blocks started smashing windows of banks and luxury stores, and burning cars.

Here, someone added a sign in front of a burning car with the french initials of the WTO (Organisation Mondiale du Commerce) reading "Where the world is cooked/over" ("cuit" meaning both "cooked" and "finished" in French). Behind, an ad for Western Union (money transfer) and another for buying gold (ACHAT PIECES - OR) !!
