The Breast-Looking One

The Breast-Looking One by Hugger Industries.
According to Glenn F, it seems this old Airport base station maybe one of the oldest in operation. It starting failing once a week and then every few days. I replaced it with a new Airport Extreme. The label on the bottom of it says 2003.

I'm running two networks at Hugga HQ actually one for the iPhone and older macs (a G network) and another for the newer Macs, Apple TV, and Bravia Link.

The joke about this old Airport was that it looked like a breast and also a UFO.

I referred to Glenn F's eBook when setting up the networks and his excellent Wi-Fi Networking News blog.

The breast is yet to come, it's going to be grand!

Geesus, Byron, you've got a freaking Cisco 675 in there! I think I had one of those in 1997. Honestly, the DSL modem could be constraining your speed!

678! It's never gone down ever; however I can no longer serial into it with that pink cord cause I've got no serial devices. I see no speed constrains actually. But you got a recommendation?

I have the exact same one. It's still working fine. I'll take a picture of it later on today. Come to think of it, I've had it since 2003 and the date confirms it!

Awesome. I think I shortened it's life over the hot Summer in a cabinet.

My dad had a Cisco 675 (or maybe 678), and at some point was complaining to his DSL provider about speed; they swapped it out, and his speed doubled. It's very CPU constrained.

I still have an original graphite ABS in a closet, serving 802.11b to some wireless XBee clients. I had to replace the capacitors, but it's still going. Ca 1999.

Replace the capacitors? Do tell -- I didn't toss the breast-looing one. It's moved to many bits for me over the years to just get thrown out like a Costco box.
