My images lately have been few and far between. It's taken me awhile to realize that that is ok. I have been spending more time sketching, planning and looking for the perfect props (which lately have been frustratingly hard to find). But I continue to sketch to get these ideas out of my head and onto paper. I know eventually I will get around to them.

This image is the next in my The Heart and The Heavy series. I have become fascinated by the ideas of roots, mental illness and containment; specially containment in a free world. But through all of our mental and personal struggles, there is always hope.

Thanks to my friend Luke for cutting the bird cage so I could get it around my neck. :)

the heart and the heavy

I took this self-portrait while visiting my parents for the holidays. I find myself the most inspired there and some of my most meaningful images are from those visits. See blog post for my thoughts on creating this image. I will carry my home safe with me, with deep love and heavy burden.
