Ring-A-Ding-Ding

Ring-A-Ding-Ding by Hryck..
#2: This ring is easily the most important thing I own.

If my house was on fire, and for some reason I wasn’t already wearing it, I would run back into the house to get this ring. It was a gift from my father, who joked that it was my inheritance. He made it in high school metal shop out of a spoon he had stolen from the cafeteria. It was basically gathering dust at the bottom of a cigar box when he gave it to me, joking that it was either priceless or worthless, he wasn’t really sure which was which.

One day, I hope to pass this onto my oldest child. If I don't have any kids, I'll give it to my nephew. If he doesn't want it, I'll just keep wearing it and opening my beer bottles with it. I'm pretty sure my nephew will want it after I show him how to do that, though.

A little shelf my dad made in his wood-shop class is in my foyer... if i need to run out with it in case of a fire or giant unknown monster attack, it comes with me. It wobbles, is a tad off-balance and won't hold much - but so was he.

POW! Right in the kisser.

But if you give the ring away, how will you open your beer?

I've attempted to open beer with my wedding ring to no-avail. Jenn bought me a ring-thing beer open for my birthday one year but it was too big, but perhaps I just need you to show me proper technique. I can open a beer bottle with a piece of paper though... at least in theory.

Sharwest: The Hryckowian men are resourceful creatures. Being that there's really only two of us, we kind of have to be.

Fra: Cheers.

MacD: If they know what's good for them, they do. If they don't, they get the ring . . .

The Walt: You have me trying to think of a good enough analogy for my dad and the ring. Probably that line about not knowing if he was priceless or worthless, although priceless is definitely my vote.

Jive Turkey: Again, that's what the kid/nephew is for. Get me a beer, open it for me, take the empty to the kitchen and get me a fresh one. You know, chores.

顔なし: I'd be happy to teach you, but I want to see how you open one with a piece of paper, too.

Todd, if you give that ring away, who will open my beers? That's really the most important question here.

Seriously though, I love that you got this from your dad. It's great to have a little piece of his history with you all the time.

Todd plays cards with me all the time, and me and all the other guys make him open all of our beer bottles with this awesome ring.

True.

Sweet Freak: That's what kids are for. It's like chores, you know?

Macwagen: That's how I make sure I keep getting invited to poker games.

Dietzy: Thanks, but have you checked out Nestor's version? Pure rawk.

Chitofran: As cheesy as it sounds, I don't really do much without this ring. If I somehow forget and leave it at home, I have to go back and get it.

Nonac: You want me to give my ring to a salmon?

Kel1: Cool, thanks.

OKP: Nothing against the ring you got on Valentine's Day, but mine is much more bad ass. Did I mention it was made from a spoon? Stolen from a cafeteria? By a juvenile delinquent?

That's bad ass.

Nestor: That is awesome. I could favorite that shot, like, 5 times.

Priceless or worthless? If it opens beer bottles that's easy to decide. Priceless. And a handmade gift from your pops? Double priceless, if it were possible. ... Good photo to go with a good story behind it.
