One Year of Heather
|
I've decided - after debating for months
- to take the plunge and join the 365
Days pool. I'm determined to get over
my phobia of photographing myself (or,
to be honest, the phobia of letting
people *see* those photos).
The count may appear off since there
are a few photos that are restricted or
private, sorry 'bout that. But I
haven't missed a single day.
March 2008: As I reached over the day 100 hump,
I'm finding my inspiration waning and my
desire to look at myself seriously
impaired. I'm continuing on because I
*know* this will be worth it when it's
over, and because I know I've already
expanded some of my technical
photography skills through this project,
but boy, some days it just seems like
such a wasteful exercise in vanity.
April 2008: I seem to be getting a little of my
enthusiasm back. They're not all
masterpieces, by a long shot, but I'm
starting to get some inspiration and
taking photos that I enjoy looking at
after the fact.
June 2008 Oops, May - and my halfway point - kind
of flew by. Now that it's mid-June and
extracurricular activities (for everyone
in the family!) are winding down, I'm
getting more energized to put more
effort back into this project - there
were a few lazy weeks in there! I can't
believe I'm over halfway through; I
can't believe I still have over 150
shots to go; I can't believe how quickly
the time has passed...
Oh, and I had my first experience of
being recognized by someone locally from
my Flickr photos this month - now *that*
was a surprise!
August 5, 2008 Been a busy few months, and some days -
or weeks - I'm really not into this, and
some days, I'm overflowing with ideas.
I've passed day 250 and am close to day
266, after which there will only be
single digits left, hard to believe how
quickly this year has gone. Actually, I
guess it's not that hard to believe,
given how fast time seems to go in
general. It amazes me sometimes when I
look at this set of photos, the ones
taken in January or December feel like
days ago. I'm glad I undertook this
project, but I sure as heck don't think
I'll be doing a second year, at least
anytime soon. I need to start taking
pictures of things besides myself again!
November 22, 2008: One year later, and I'm done. It's
just crazy to me how quickly it went,
and how long it seemed. I won't write
more here because I really wrote an epic
novel in the description of the Day 366
photo... but wow, I'm SO glad this is
over, and I'm SO glad to have done it!
