In 1977 Margaret Mead and other anthropologists founded the Anthropology Museum of the People of New York to promote cross-cultural understanding among the city's many cultural groups, encouraging ethnic pride. This tiny museum had this skull among it's artifacts.

The label reads: "This 3100 year-old Homo sapiens sapiens skull was excavated from Shorgiol, near the south shore of Lake Sevan, Armenia by A.A. Martirossian in 1960. It belonged to a gracile woman with a highly developed forehead and temporal contours (Indo-European trait) differing from Asian types with wider nasal bones. (Donated by anthropologist Dr. Stephen Savajian) Do you know what caused the green discoloration on the cheek bones?"
