These are ramps - a wild leek that grows in the Appalachia ragion of the US. When I was growing up - I always heard bad stories about ramps. Eating ramps would make you smell for days. Cooking ramps indoors was impossible if you wanted to live there afterwards. And so on. It wasn't until I was in college did I try ramps for the first time - and I was hooked.
