I've had some real shit-luck when it comes to working with new models lately. Flakes, no-shows, people who take concepts I discuss with them and shoot with other photographers. It's really soured me for a bit on giving new models a chance to shoot. Luckily, I can still count on Z and Alissa.I have a shoot coming up with Alissa, and another with Z, so do stay tuned. Plus, I might have another shoot with an "oldie but a goldie". Super-excited, if it comes to pass. The new blog and sites are coming along. I'm putting a lot of attention to detail in them and want to roll them out polished.

Moving towards 2010, I'll be taking a more commercial pursuit to my work. As such, I'll need to suck it up and shoot a lot more weddings, high school seniors, families, etc. Asking people to make the leap mentally from my work with models to my other work might be too much for some clients, so I've made a very hard decision to separate my public name from that work. I'll continue to shoot models creatively, but under channels that do not allow for high-visibility or that provide safe-guards to who can see the images.
It's hard to believe it's been 5, almost 6, years that I've been contributing to the content here on Flickr. I've met friends, traveled to other countries, met my girlfriend and had a child - all things because of the wonderful community here. But like all great things, they never last. The sense of community has waned here. Many artists I have followed for years rarely post or have abandoned altogether. Censorship issues still prevail, and the number of porn/perverts on here rises. Seriously, some member's profiles read like (badly written) personal ads.
As a result, I have WAY more many people on my block list than I have on my contact list (and I have a bunch of contacts). I've seen way more penises and cross-dressing men than could fill a lifetime. It's too much to manage in order to "friend" everyone that I want to see my work. So Flickr will become a "safe" and occasional post for me. (And watch the porn contacts drop to nothing).
If you'd like to continue to follow my work, I'd encourage you to join DeviantArt (they have free memberships as well). It seems like a great community with excellent communication tools Flickr does not provide. It's also geared more towards the artist, rather than those who snap endless photos of their house cats.
My new vehicle for showing my model and creative work is Modern Sexy. At present, this is simply a modified version of what was Houser Fine Art. I'll be changing this site to better display the history of images I have created over the years.
Houser Fine Art now redirects users to Houser Photography.
Also, towards the end of the year, I'll be launching Houser Photoblog. Photoblogging is where I started and it feels like it's the right time to get back to it.
I hope these new projects will help me continue with my goals, segregate my work (as it should be) to address the different viewers/clients I have, and allow you to get even more up-close and personal with me and my work.
Thanks for watching my work and sharing your own with me. It does mean everything to me.
