ante-bellum Homes.
Posterity may view with profitable concern No. 1, the residence first
Secretary of the States of the Confederacy, who issued order to fire
on Fort Sumter in 1861, first shot of the Civil War. This edifice was
built in 1815.
No. 2, the home of the first Governor of Alabama, built in 1837.
No. 3, the palatial home of a wealthy plater of the Old South, built
in 1835.
