Honduras Looks To The South
On Wednesday July 30, in a press conference during the ministerial meeting of the PetroCaribe Division of Food (Petroalimentos), President Manuel Zelaya announced that Honduras will join The Bolivarian Alternative for the People of Our America (ALBA). This follows his declaration in a recent press conference that Honduras needs new forms of commercial association with more dignity. The President affirmed that “The political decision of the government, in search of better solutions for the historical problems of the country, is to become a full member of ALBA”. A senior minister added that Honduras is already a subscriber to PetroCaribe and has been an observer member of ALBA for four months. The ex-foreign minister, Milton Jimenez, is reported to have represented Honduras at ALBA’s sixth meeting held in January this year.
