“Vacation Schools” - Completed
Even some parishes, where the Sisters worked during the school year, were sites for vacation school activities. Many children at St. John’s Cathedral, shown here in 1955, are possibly great grandparents today, recalling summer experiences of a less complicated time. Picture of St. John’s August 3A

Sr. Josephine Crowley & Holy Innocents Wreathe Project 1969

Sr. Josephine Crowley & Holy Innocents Wreathe Project 1969

Advent - Four Weeks to Prepare for Christmas.
In the 1950s Liturgical renewal began in the West. Groups of developmentally disabled children and adults were being instructed for the Sacraments by Sister Miriam O’Gara and her assistants like Sister Josephine Crowley and family members – they raised money for programs by making and selling wreaths, candles and candleholders. They helped establish this lovely Advent custom in California. Picture of Sister Josephine Crowley and Holy Innocents. December 1A
