Saint Vincent’s Day Home – 100th
Saint Vincent’s Day Home, Oakland, California, is celebrating 100 years of care for children and families this year. Established in 1911 in the same building that still services the Home, it was, at the same time, the Sisters’ convent for many years. Picture of kids on lawn October 1A

“Vacation Schools” - Completed
Even some parishes, where the Sisters worked during the school year, were sites for vacation school activities. Many children at St. John’s Cathedral, shown here in 1955, are possibly great grandparents today, recalling summer experiences of a less complicated time. Picture of St. John’s August 3A

St. Elizabeth’s Day Home – 105th Anniversary
St. Elizabeth’s Day Home in San Jose was originally on Vine Street; now it is on St. Elizabeth Drive. Throughout its many differing physical aspects it has remained constant in its purpose – a “home away from home” for children in need. Picture of old classroom September 3A

Advent - Four Weeks to Prepare for Christmas.
In the 1950s Liturgical renewal began in the West. Groups of developmentally disabled children and adults were being instructed for the Sacraments by Sister Miriam O’Gara and her assistants like Sister Josephine Crowley and family members – they raised money for programs by making and selling wreaths, candles and candleholders.
