This is not a specific anti-videogames statement nor a violence-glorifying picture - and it's by no means a suicide portrait. It's more about certain aspects of virtuality and reality getting mixed in a bad way. The picture should draw attention to the complexity of videogames with their potential harmful (media violence, videogames addiction etc) and their potential beneficial effects (entertainment, escapism etc.).

This group, which is an initiative of Global Voices Advocacy , will launch an online free speech campaign using a badge (à la Amnesty's Irrepressible campaign) which will load random images from the Group focusing on the anti-censorship theme. We are also working to build a sidebar widget meant to be used and disseminated by thousands of blogs using wordpress blogging platform.

This may increase drastically the number of people seeing the anti-censorship art that is being displayed by people like you. In June 2006 the delegates from 26 countries (among which was MEC from Serbia) founded in Los Angeles a world movement “International Youth Media Summit” with the objective to use the creative energy of young people as means of battle against seven global problems: violence, racism, poverty, environment, health, women’s rights and youth empowerment! Today, the movement consists of organizations from more than forty countries. This exhibition is one part of the 3rd International Youth Media Summit which is being held in Belgrade at the same time, and it will show photos and multimedia material created by young people from all around the World.

Creative. What if the arm coming out of the computer looked part virtual, part real (leave the guy exactly the same) to symbolize the confusion? It's like saying some people take all the virtual violence seriously and act on it, which then leads to violence and people to end up like the guy in the chair... So the part virtual, part human arm could symbolize people who followed the footsteps of virtual, fictional characters and committed violent acts on another person (people acting out virtual violence). Great message, btw.
