Yilan TuDiGong Celebration 2010 - 15

Yilan TuDiGong Celebration 2010 - 15

Please allow me to skip to pay Grandpa a respect, today (Sunday) is his birthday (2nd day of 2nd month in lunar calendar). It is celebrated throughout the world among the Chinese community.

For those who doesn't know him, he's the "Grandpa of Earth" (土地公公), also called the God of the Earth. In traditional times, village concerns were primarily agricultural or weather-related. This god was not all-powerful, but was a modest heavenly bureaucrat to whom individual villagers could turn in times of drought or famine.

Taiwan Biggest Tu Di Gong statue! Probably world's biggest, which I'm not sure. To be more interesting, this gigantic statue is a roof of a temple! Look at my next shot!
