Lodi Gardens' 90 acres boasts the function of both a serene public space and a historical site protected by the Archeological Survey of India. It contains tombs and architecture constructed by the Sayyid and Lodis in the 15th century. Two villages surrounding the tombs were displaced by the British Raj to create "Lady Willington Park" surrounding the tombs which was renamed "Lodi Gardens" after Independence.
