Tiger-Tiger Ice Cream Carton

Tiger-Tiger Ice Cream Carton by High Steel Heels.
I'm guessing 1960s on this one. Has no barcode so can't be any later than about 1973. Flavor sounds like something from one of Miss Retro Modern's or Charm & Poise's challenged recipe cards!

I have to think about that one. Orange and licorice... Sounds more like a booze concoction!

To tell the truth, the combination sounds good to me.

todd, maybe it wasn't quite as offensive as the mixture suggests.

I looked online for mention of it and apparently some people liked it.

This seems like the sort of thing when I was a kid I would have gotten once and never again.

bob, thanks for the idea. i too looked into this bizarre concept and it seems it's pretty popular. there's a site that makes popcorn in that flavor.

I'm a sucker for this stuff!!!!
the icecream itself?
hmmmm... who knows...!
I'm also a sucker for anything orange flavoured....
though I would rather see it striped with chocolate... ;-P

The cuteness belies the horrible flavor that lurks within!

I hate licorice - but that flavour, known in these parts as "Tiger Tail" or "Tiger Stripe" is still a mainstay at local dairies that haven't been bought out by the conglomerates. I guess there are still lots of Ontarians who like the stuff...

Even weirder is my father-in-law's favourite from childhood - "Grape" - which we actually found for him... bright Grimace purple and identical in taste to a package of grape Koolade -- *shudder*

I thought maybe it was orange and chocolate. That would have tasted better, I think.

You can get this ice cream flavor at Safeway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada...and I bet it's elsewhere in Canada, too. I'm not a big licorice fan, so I haven't tried it yet.

Commenting on this old picture because I love this flavour of ice cream, and actually have some in my freezer. I think the flavour is exclusive to Canada (I live in Saskatchewan).

To people who don't like licorice: don't let that throw you off! I don't like licorice in any way shape or form except in this icecream. Neither does my girlfriend. She thought she'd hate tiger tiger when I introduced her to it and now she loves it too :D
