Wistman's Wood in Winter

Wistman's Wood in Winter

Playing with PS to try and generate the atmosphere of the place, and I thought a mono-type conversion emphasized the shapes of the stunted oaks and boulders better.

Pulpit Rock at Dusk

Pulpit Rock at Dusk

A low tide and light winds at Portland Bill recently, making it ideal for spray-free shooting conditions. Taken about 30 minutes after sunset, allowing the sky to balance more with the rocks and water. 90 second exposure at f16 at ISO 100, plus 2 stop Grad to hold back the sky, during which myself and a friend frantically painted the Pulpit Rock and the ledges with powerful torches. The technique is largely trial and error and it's surprising how much 'painting' is needed. Anything to annoy the French coastguard eh!

Misty Morning near High Ham

Misty Morning near High Ham

A chilly dawn full of soft light. Up near the village of High Ham in Somerset with far reaching views all around. That's Somerton Hill poking up from the mist.

Disappearing Act

Disappearing Act

Went out yesterday morning with certain shots in mind, but the mist was so thick I had to radically rethink my approach and go with the flow instead :)
