Snarl at Southwold

Snarl at Southwold by heyoka.
We picked a rotten day to go and play on the beach: a very high tide was in and there was no beach. None. Snarl spent about half an hour making videos of the waves crashing over the groynes.

When I developed this roll, the reel came apart inside the tank and the whole thing scrolled up tight, stuck to itself and got scratched to hell, so only a couple of frames got sorted. Gah. But I like this one.

(taken with an Ensign Ful-Vue, a dead cute 1940s box camera and HP5 )

They're right - this is a wonderful accident. It's like the crappy weather lives in the image.

this is lovely...so aged...i'd say you maybe picked the right day to go to southwold...actually, is there a wrong day to go there?...i'd say not...and you can get the best adnams you can get anywhere there...

thanks for all the kind words.

menlo: ha! sure thing, as long as you are particularly fond of fingerprints, blotches, random sprinklings of cat hair, and split film where I can't get the damn sticky-end off the reel...

ian: you're right. Any day is a good Southwold day, but I like the seaside best in the winter. Is that really perverse?

it seems like it might be better without the scratch actually...maybe something can be photoshopped about it?

Cool shot. It totally looks like an accidental vintage abstraction. I found this cool site with some really awesome vintage photos. It's www.AmericanPhotowork.com. The vintage buffs will like it.

Well hello there! I just chanced upon this lovely photo of Snarl linked from the Flickr blog. This is such a lovely damaged photo, Heyoka! It reminds me of your heavily distressed polariod photos. I hope you are both doing well.
