Very nice. I wrapped the command in a small applescript application to make turning it on and off easy for the Terminal-impaired.

Download.

Thanks.

If you want to use this indicator in Safari Windows, edit the Preferences.plist file in the C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\Application Data\Apple Computer\Safari directory.

Add the following key at the bottom, just before the final </dict> and </plist> elements:

<key>DebugUsePieProgressIndicator</k ey>
<true/>

I've heard rumors that the same indicator is used to show the progress of file transfers in Leopard iChat!

A similar indicator is used in Aperture, to show progress of a file import session.

It's also already in use in Mail.app next to individual IMAP mailboxes when they're taking time to synchronise.

mar4foto - the feature is not the spinner on each tab, but the piechart-indicator where the website favicon usually goes.
