One Nation Under CCTV

Banksy, Newman St, London. The scaffolding went up on Saturday morning. By Monday, French TV news was filming the art; office workers, hard-hats and inky-fingered printers were admiring it, while a chorus of "Banksy's done a poster, Banksy's done a poster, Da-na-na-na" could be heard from the adjacent Post Office building.

I find it ironic that CCTV happens to be the acronym for the propagandist Chinese television network as well (China Central Television). The text actually works just as well in a Chinese context.

Since I am a trainer in assistive technology, I could not resist peeking at this photo. The CCTV is an important device that enlarges print materials onto a screen that can show a very large magnification. They can also change the viewing mode from text in black ink on white paper to something that a person with a visual impairment can see more easily, like black text on a high contrast yellow background. I just have to save this image of yours to show some of my students, for they will get a kick out of it.

And of course, it is even more special since it is the famous banksy!!! I've been a fan of his for years.
