In Her Eyes (NYC, May 2009)
Clutching her new Teddy Bear, here's my mother, recovering from yet another major surgery... not fully understanding what was going on due to her advanced Alzheimer's. To her, I dedicate:
"In Your Eyes"
-- by Peter Gabriel
Love...
I get so lost, sometimes
days pass and this emptiness fills my heart
when I want to run away
I drive off in my car
but whichever way I go
I come back to the place you are
All my instincts, they return
and the grand facade, so soon will burn
without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside
In your eyes
the light the heat
in your eyes
I am complete
in your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
in your eyes
the resolution of all the fruitless searches
in your eyes
I see the light and the heat
in your eyes
oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light
the heat I see in your eyes
Love...
I don't like to see so much pain
so much wasted and this moment keeps slipping away
I get so tired of working so hard for our survival
I look to the time with you to keep me awake and alive
And all my instincts, they return
and the grand facade, so soon will burn
without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside
In your eyes
the light the heat
in your eyes
I am complete
in your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
in your eyes
the resolution of all the fruitless searches
in your eyes
I see the light and the heat
in your eyes
oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light,
the heat I see in your eyes
in your eyes in your eyes
in your eyes in your eyes
in your eyes in your eyes

A Bird & The Setting Sun (Martha's Vineyard, August 2009)
This is a re-post - I've cleaned up the image a bit. The original image processing overwhelmed Photoshop and the result was a pronounced, unnatural, bright red corona on the sun along with some leaking of the intense orange and reds onto the bird itself. A bit of work and it's all fixed now -- restored to what my eyes actually saw.
A bird settles in on his perch to view the stunning sunset on Martha's Vineyard. The beach is just yards away to the right. Don't be fooled by the 2nd bird, just below and to the right of the perched bird. Although it looks like a predator bird carrying off a fish, it is actually just a wind directional on top of the house. Gotcha!
... And yes, I was in the right place at the right time... but I saw the shot coming in advance, set up for it, calibrated and waited. I'm glad I did.
