Reflecting (on) March 2008

    Newer Older

This image represents the third of the key outcomes of the eyes } world { hands 2008 project. The image is a composite, equally representing all 31 individual eye images taken during March 2008. As such, then, this image represents the average eye for the month. The superimposition concept was inspired by the Australian National Photographic Portrait Project by Raimond De Weerdt, Karen Donnelly and Tony Nott. In 2002 I had the opportunity of being one of 50 faces contributing to the male portrait of the Faces of Albury.
    .
Compare this image for March with the composite images for
January and February. Comments and critiques are welcome!

This one seems particularly male Caucasian as compared to (my memory of) the previous two months.

Jennifer, indeed it has that look...just checked though: 17 women 14 men ....and the same number of non-Caucasians (which is random, subject to where I happen to be).

i love the idea!!! i was just showing it to my sister!!! funny enough with all the faces that each month has the eyes are quite similar to each other! which i think shows how we are all the same and how we are all equal. i wanted to ask, if u have included people from different races into ur shots or was it all people from the same race? u could do a mix and it would be interesting how it would be and then u could do an easter asian one and then an african one separately just to compare with the ones u have already.

thanks for the detailed comment. yes, there are people from various backgrounds in there. It all depends where I am on the day...have a look at the project description..but yes, it might e possible to work on something like this by the end of the year.

Am I wrong or do I see the photographer reflected in the eye??

    15. heritagefutures 63 months ago | reply

thanker21, thanks for the suggestion...might do it..to a degree I have already done so...see this:

Niquitin, no you're right..as I am photographing each person with their own reflections, more or less in the same pose every time, I should be reflected in there as a dark outline

Cool - thanks for the link. That what I was wanting to see. This month looks "pinker" than the other two. :)

    18. heritagefutures 63 months ago | reply

yes it does, has to do with complexion and lighting of the subjects, I think...
