A Carl Baunscheidt (1809-1873) 'Lebenswecker' with a copy of the handbook on 'Baunscheidtismus' (1869 edition), his method of curing illnesses of all sorts, and a partially filled bottle of 'Oleum Baunscheidtii.' Together they form a kit of homeopathic medicine that was very popular in nineteenth century Germany and had a sizeable following among German emigrants in Australia and especially the USA.
