Lunar Eclipse Composite

Lunar Eclipse Composite

Partial Lunar Eclipse on April 25, 2103. The image in the center was taken at greates eclipse (20:07 UT) when 98,7% of the moon's diameter was eclipsed by the Earth's penumbra, but only about 1,5% of the moon's diameter penetrated into Earth's dark umbra. The other two images were taken when 70% of the moon's daimeter was eclipsed by the penumbra - the right image during ingress (19:06 UT), the left during egress (21:09 UT): Here, the Earth's penumbra is just visible as a slight darkening of the Moon's upper left (ingress, right image) and upper right (egress, left image) limb.

Composite of three shots (1/125, 1/250 and 1/350 second), taken with a Canon EOS 550D at ISO 800 trough a 90/1000mm refractor telescope.

DeepSpace

DeepSpace

Opening of the "Central European Deepsky Imaging Conference" (CEDIC'13), the largest conference for astrophotographers in Europe, with over 120 participants from 18 nations.

During the opening session, deep sky images were projected on the huge 16x9m ² projection wall and on the floor of the DeepSpace of the Ars Electronica Center in Linz, Austria, where the conference took place. This makes you feel like floating in space. :)

Image taken with Canon EOS 550D, 1/30 second at ISO 4000, Sigma 10mm f/2.8 fisheye lens at f/5.6.

Steinschloss

Steinschloss

This star trails image was done in ruins of the Steinschloss castle in Styria, Austria. The castle is already impressive by day, but spending the night in the ruins of this medieval fortification, with some bats as the only companions, is indeed an intense expirience.

Stack of 40 individual frames, each of 60 seconds exposure time (Canon EOS 550D, ISO 800, 10mm, f/3.5), resulting in a total exposure of 40 minutes. The ruins and the landscape were illuminated by the first quarter moon.
