Mesa Arch - Canyonlands N.P
Back from a phototrip through Utah and Arizona. Been to some remote and hardly known places, but also to the well know spots and lets start with one of them. This is Mesa Arch (Island in the sky District - Canyonlands N.P), well known and every morning at sunrise too many people gather here together for shooting first light hitting the arch.
There is hardly any space, so the ones who come first have the best spot. I was staying in Moab, means almost an hour drive to this location. Getting up at 3:30am, being first here was important to me. But when it got bright i saw already there were too many clouds and the so called great sunrise never showed up. There were about 20 people here and when they all would come agian the next day it would be extremely busy so i decided to go even earlier the next day.
And when the alarm goes of at 3am you wonder why you like photography so much ;-)
Again the hour drive and again being here first, but in less than 30 min more and more people were showing up and waiting for the sunrise. Mother nature did not let us down, the arch was lit up deep red and we had a wonderful morning.
Image is part of the south-west tour.
Enjoy...
