I have 224 units in a standard block. Once the standard block is exceeded I switch to discount energy units. The time frame of how this magical number of 224 is applied (that I had to call and find out about) is mysterious.
There are several different types of Tariffs. Some Tariffs only apply if you have a special meter installed. For example: You can only get discounted energy units at night if you have a Economy7 meter installed.
In order to simplify the bill, one can switch to a fixed energy unit charge called a "standard charge".
