Yasukuni Shrine flea market, Tokyo
Yasukuni Shrine flea market was a fun thing to do one late Sunday morning in Tokyo. There were about 60 to 70 stalls selling everything from ceramics and old toys to World War 2 weapons and vintage cameras. The people visiting the market were a mix of locals with a few tourists. We didn't buy anything, but the husband had fun taking photos there. This is one of his, taken with the Leica M8.2.

This was the last in a series of mouthwatering and creative dishes that our Japanese friends ordered at Hale Kai's, a small restaurant in Nishi Azabu, Tokyo. They go to eat at Hale Kai's twice a month, so I absolutely trusted them with the ordering. I love the way ikura just pops in your mouth!

This youngster was having fun with the fake dishes outside a restaurant in Daikanyama, Tokyo. I took this one, while the husband took a reverse shot at the same time. The parents were close by!

This was my friend's lunch at Ariso-Tei, an elegant restaurant in Omotesando / Aoyama, Tokyo, specialising in seafood and vegetables from Fukui prefecture. Next door is a shop selling all the food products, as well as homeware from the region.

The Ninja restaurant in Akasaka-Mitsuke, Tokyo (there is a branch in Kyoto too) is a fun place to go with friends. When we went, it was full of Japanese diners, with just a few non-Japanese tourists. It is a themed restaurant, but who doesn't like ninjas and magic tricks? The food is pretty good too, particularly the vegetarian set menu. Apparently set menus are the way to go. It's pretty expensive to eat at Ninja, but the tricks are worth every Yen...
