I also took one with the Panasonic G1 + 20/1.7. I thought it'd be
interesting to post it too.

very crisp shot with this, as well
curious if both were handheld or tripod
nice to have the f/2.0 option in this lighting

Your new camera seems to be excellent. (A certain Akam-person called it "snacks"--he.he.)

Jimmy: Thanks! Yes, all photos I have posted at Flickr are handheld. I got a tripod a few weeks ago, but so far I have never brought it with me... :-) F/2 was a mistake. It was mid day (but the sun never gets high this time of year), so I could have gotten away with 5.6 or more. The 20/1.7 lens is really sharp even wide open though, so the photo turned out fine anyway.
Randi: Yes, it's an impressive little camera. Really fun to use. Did someone (does the name start with a T, by any chance? He he) call the Panasonic "snacks"? Was that a good thing? :-)

Well caught, you used the light to perfection and the composition is excellent.

Why didn't they have this camera around before I got my 450D....? :P It would surely beat that one, if not your 5D. :)
Helena Normark (41 months ago | reply)
Thank you all very much!
cottonthistle: I think the G1 was around, but only one lens (the 14-45mm kit lens) was available then. It wasn't until the 20/1.7 was released that I took an interest in G1 and the other Micro Four Thirds cameras.
I used the G1 some more during Christmas and still think it's really good in decent light. It's harder to get short DoF with it compared to 5D, but if you move closer the background blur is good enough. Indoors the 5D is much better though, but that is as it should be considering the larger sensor and higher price.
