Freshly baked cookies for trick-or-treaters. I think this is going to be a new tradition for me :) At the last minute I told Wayne I really didn't want to buy regular candy, and (with a smile) he said I was turning into "that lady"....anyhow, I stumbled on some Bi-Rite cookie dough in their freezer section and baked these off in a flash. The kids really seemed to like them.

Do you have a set of neighborhood regulars? Unfortunately, around here, no one I know allows kids to eat homemade goods from trick or treating.

I was in beautiful Beaufort, SC for Halloween, and we too gave out homemade cookies when the candy ran out. The kids started munching them right away. Wonderful place for Halloween...

The candy fears have really ruined Halloween. In actuality, all of those stories about random spiked Halloween treats candy are myths.

I love hearing that Kris. Yay for homemade cookies. The more I thought about all the reasons not to give out homemade treats - the more I wanted to. I hate perpetuating the the idea that the only food deemed safe on Halloween is food that has been shrink wrapped or never touched by human hands. Glad you had some happy kids on your end too!

I really wanted to bake cookies for Halloween this year, but was certain they'd all get thrown away by zealous parents before the kids could even breathe on them. I've been contemplating how to reassure parents that they're not poisoned.
