Oh yes, we said Art Party! What was initially conceived as a way to bring together an out of control full scale mind blowing light display with performances by Paper Garden Records three bands, Multiverse Playground has metaphorically set loose and reigned in more exciting elements than you can poke a stick at, exploding into a grand scale conceptual event that would make even the white wall artsy-fartsy types pay attention!
In conjunction with Williamsburg’s 3rd Ward, Paper Garden Records will shine a new light (literally) on our everyday perception of music and art on November 7th, 2009 with Multiverse Playground. Challenging and exploring the relationship between the senses, Multiverse Playground’s grandiose light installation will illuminate and embody the atmosphere and sound of Paper Garden's blossoming artists - Emanuel and the Fear, Peasant, and Darla Farmer.
Conceptual art visionary Larry Mayorga, has been sequestering like a mad scientist in his New York apartment, playing, tinkering and creating what is set to be a jaw dropping visual feast to make your eyes salivate! (Don’t worry, we checked in, he is still alive, no volt is to high for Larry!) The production is one that will result in a hypnotic and seductive performance that heightens the viewer’s awareness of the space, lighting and their relationship with the constructed environment and the music. This will become a responsive art/light installation that will trigger an intimate and emotional connection between the music and the viewer, an experience only fully appreciated in physical presence! This will be the only example of when it is ‘OK’ to wear sunglasses at nighttime.
Accompanying the luminous vision of Mayorga, Paper Garden Records will also be showcasing an artist-based photography exhibition by Heidi Greenwood and a must-see live conceptual art performance by New York art collective, Art Battles. Comedy Central’s Kurt Metzger will perform stand-up between Art Battles and Paper Garden’s acts and to bring the party home and get people dancing like light infected mutants, Brooklyn’s Boy Crisis will headline the event with a special guest appearance by Das Racist! Dance Party!
In addition, Paper Garden Records has recently been invited by Lomography to be the newest member of their elite Lomo Amigos group, alongside Elijah Wood, Beirut, David Arquette, Bruce Lee and more!
And did we mention FREE BEER! Colt 45 on the house from 6 -7 pm. Now that’s a party!
