Who Says You Cant Eat Democracy - Heather Watts

Who Says You Cant Eat Democracy - Heather Watts

5" x 7" Acrylic on Panel, 2007

Years from now it will be an old saying, but for now the phrase "you can't eat democracy" is just a flippant sound bite about the hard truth in Iraq.

Realism insists however, that civil order, a functioning economy and potable water are actually quite palatable–a fact the architects of the "peace" failed to grasp. This painting examines the fallout of their failure.

Where the Flowers Went - Heather Watts

Where the Flowers Went - Heather Watts

8" x 10" Acrylic on Panel, 2007

Because of his noxious spray, the skunk has a natural flair for handling unruly protesters. He exists in a world of black and white, confident in the justness and necessity of his actions.

The classic folk song "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" ends with a description of graveyards covered in flowers. Pictured here are the flowers that refused to grow on graves.
