me on TV

me on TV by hbomb1947 the turnstile-jumper.
No, this isn't me; it's superstar transit reporter Bobby Cuza from the NY1 cable channel, who interviewed me for this story regarding my recent battle against the MTA that arose from my ticket for turnstile-jumping in a subway station.

To see me on TV, you can watch a streaming video of the NY1 story (It's about 2 minutes long). Just click on the words "broad band" under the headline at the top. A still image from that video can be seen here.

In the photograph above, taken shortly after Mr. Cuza interviewed me, he is taping an intro to the story, although that intro never made it onto the air (it was replaced with a live intro from a different subway station).

He interviewed me at the station where the turnstile-jumping incident took place, at 77th & Lexington in Manhattan.

Note the lack of a cameraman behind the camera. NY1 being a relatively low-budget operation, Mr. Cuza told me that he and most of the channel's other reporters do their own camera work -- even when they're taping themselves.

This photo was featured in Gothamist, 12/24/05.

So, do you think anything will come of the story?

Wolfy, nothing can come of this. My case is over. But at least it gave me the chance to get a little notoriety out of the whole thing.

just wanna say, "you da man!"

saw this at ingrid's. thanks for reminding me that idiocy must be confronted in public life, and that little gestures can amount to big ones.

a friend of mine once took his fine to court (the first and only step here, to my knowledge). he'd forgotten to buy his weekly at his local non-turnstile station, so tried to buy one inside the barrier at the terminus - and was given a fine. he keeps all his old weekly tickets (yay for obsessive compulsives!) and showed them as evidence - so the magistrate threw his fine away. just one more story from this naked city ...

edit: i just wandered through the set. i have to say: it makes me wary of visiting new york (which i really want to do). is that what the city wants? btw, i'm not a terrorist (hope that holds up in court!).
